Our membrane press filter for palm oil fractionation uses a fully automatic hydraulic control system, delivering stable and reliable performance.
(1) Feeding & Filtration Stage: After crystallization, the palm stearin and olein mixture is pumped into the press filter's closed filter chamber via a screw pump. The chamber is formed by hydraulically compressed, alternating membrane and chamber plates, each lined with polypropylene filter cloth. Under feeding pressure, liquid olein passes through the filter cloth, exits via the filter plate's pore channels, and is pumped to the olein storage tank, while solid stearin is trapped in the chamber to form a filter cake.

(2) Membrane Squeezing Stage: Feeding stops when inlet resistance rises and a compact filter cake forms in the chamber. Squeezing medium is then injected into the membrane plates to expand the membrane, applying high pressure to the filter cake. This further separates residual olein from the cake, boosting olein yield and reducing oil content in the stearin filter cake.
(3) Compressed Air Purging Stage: Once squeezing is complete, compressed air from an air compressor is fed through the filter press to purge the filter cake. This fully removes residual olein from the cake, preventing the stearin from becoming an olein-containing semi-solid mixture, and ensuring the purity and hardness of the final stearin product.
(4) Discharging & Recycling Stage: After pressure is released, the filter press opens and the solid stearin filter cake is discharged by gravity. We recommend installing the filter equipment on a second floor or platform, so the discharged stearin falls directly into the stearin recovery tank below, cutting your equipment and operating costs.
To prevent the hard, heavy solid stearin from damaging the tank, we fit flat steel sheets inside the recovery tank to break up the stearin before it reaches the tank bottom. A heating coil at the tank bottom melts the collected solid stearin into liquid, which is then pumped to the stearin storage tank, completing the full separation of palm olein and stearin.
